Music Therapy Services

Early Childhood

Our board-certified music therapists use music in fun, intentional ways to help children reach important developmental, emotional, and social goals. Whether your child is navigating communication delays, sensory challenges, autism, emotional distress or other developmental needs, music can be a powerful tool for progress.

How Music Therapy Helps:

Builds Communication Skills

  • Singing, vocal play, and instrument choices help children express themselves—whether they're speaking or not.

Boosts Learning and Attention

  • Repetitive melodies and rhythm games support focus, memory, and early learning concepts like letters, numbers, and sequencing.

Encourages Social Interaction

  • Turn-taking and musical games gently promote connection and shared experiences.

Supports Sensory Regulation

  • Music helps calm or energize children depending on their needs, using rhythm and sound to support self-regulation.

Strengthens Motor Skills

  • Drumming, dancing, and instrument play improve coordination, body awareness, and movement patterns.

Creates a Safe Space for Expression

  • Music offers a non-verbal outlet for feelings that may be too big or too hard to talk about

  • Children can express fear, sadness, anger, or confusion through instrument play, songwriting, or improvisation

  • Therapists help children feel heard and validated through musical mirroring and supportive interaction

Builds Trust and Emotional Safety

  • A consistent music therapy relationship can foster attachment and stability

  • Playful or familiar songs can reduce anxiety and increase openness over time

  • Interactive music-making strengthens connection and promotes relational healing

Supports Self-Esteem and Empowerment

  • Children gain confidence through making choices in music (e.g., picking instruments, writing lyrics)

  • Completing a musical project (like a song or recording) fosters a sense of achievement

  • Music helps children discover and express their personal strengths and identity

Teaches Coping Skills

  • Children can learn calming strategies through musical routines and repetition

  • Songs can be written or selected to reinforce positive messages, affirmations, and emotional tools

  • Music becomes a resource children can return to outside of therapy sessions

Each session is tailored to your child’s strengths, needs, and goals—and always grounded in care, creativity, and evidence-based practice. Sessions are typically 30-45 minutes long but may vary as needed. Sessions are provided in your home for your convenience. Contact us below for a consult! â€‹
